Editors' Note: Edition 11

(December 01, 2011)

Welcome to the December 2011 edition of cylchgrawn Cymru Culture magazine. As the tree goes up at Tŵr Cymru Culture Towers this morning, we would like to wish a Merry Christmas, Nadolig Llawen, Happy New Year and Blwyddyn Newydd Dda to all our readers, from us and from all our regular columnists.

This quarter's articles, the previous quarter's and all interviews with artists and designers are linked on the frontpage.

Cylchgrawn Cymru Culture magazine recently joined the twitterati. Follow us on Twitter at @CymruCulture.

In this edition: we look forward to Christmas 2011 and to Wales in 2012.

Our Christmas articles include advice on wrapping presents, accessorising your home for the festive season and Head Chef at Tŵr Cymru Culture Towers, Claire Meredith, shares her recipe for chic and simple mince pies.

We highlight some of the pressing issues affecting Wales in 2012:

In this edition of 'Bae watch', Leanne Wood AC/AM talks about the rise and rise of foodbanks, and discusses public sector pensions.

In 'Wot; no .cymru?' Siôn Jobbins ponders why the Welsh Government have not got behind the .cymru TLD internet domain name, backing .wales (and allowing it to be run by a company in England) instead. Seems a good question to us too.

In the week that saw the tragic loss of Gary Speed - proud Welshman and Wales football team manager - we discuss the controversy surrounding Team GB footballers at the 2012 London Olympics.

Gareth Bale

We also look back at some of the highlights of 2011:

Some fabulous images from innovative Welsh designer Jayne Pierson's London Fashion Week catwalk show are shown here.

In Blinc … and it was gone, we showcase the inaugural Gŵyl Gelfyddydau Digidol Blinc Digital Arts Festival, held at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Conwy.

Still with the digital (and in this case visual) arts, Interview with Ceri Vale discusses his wide-ranging portfolio, including photo-journalism, street, landscape, architectural and wildlife photographs, and the photographers who inspire him.

Dave Snowden's 'Life, work, rugby' looks at Wales' performance in the 2011 Rugby World Cup, the effect of 'that tackle', and the future of Welsh rugby in general.

In two articles in our 'Another Day in the life of Viv' series ('Miss Universe Wales spreads positive PR for Wales on the Algarve' and 'Not in vain '), Vivienne Sharman-Lewis looks back on a hectic and wonderful year of 'Miss Universe Wales'.
